Watch: Power of Photojournalism

The Power of Photojournalism, made by The Annenberg Space for Photography and Arclight Productions, is a short video which asks winners of the 66th Pictures of the Year International Awards and also editors from several newspapers what photojournalism means to them. Why is their work important? What kind of challenges do these photographers face? Why do they do it?

This video (shown in two parts) is truly inspiring and emotionally moving. It has left me with even more respect than I already have for photojournalists and the risks they take every single day for their work.

You can view the most recent winners of the 68th Pictures of the Year International Awards here.

Watch: Films of 2010 Reviewed in Six Amazing Minutes

Wow. This video is very, very cool. An amazing way to recap the films of 2010!

“This year’s movies have legitimately transformed my idea of what is creatively possible. To commemorate, I’ve remixed 270 of them into one giant ass video,” says Genrocks, who put together this masterpiece.

He has even listed out all of the 270 films for you with this note: “My film selection process was fairly open; anything that was either produced or distributed in 2010 was fair game (I also consulted this Wikipedia entry). This is why some movies are labelled 2009 or 2011 on IMDB. Also, this by no means constitutes a comprehensive list of films that came out in 2010. That would have been exhausting.”

Watch ‘Way Back Home’ – A visually stunning mountain bike street trials video feat. Danny MacAskill

We recently impressed and posted a free running video from London, that not only showcased the free runners skills but was also visually spectacular. Now today I came across this video which perhaps even tops that. Danny MacAskill is a street trials rider who is based in Edinburgh but who was originally from the Isle of Skye. This short film entitled ‘Way Home’, documents Danny’s journey as he rides at various spots along the way from Edinburgh to his home town Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye . The scenery, music and story really lift this piece and Danny MacAskill’s riding speaks for itself. The video was sponsored by Red Bull and you can read more about it here.

Incredible Free Running Video

This is possibly the best free running video I have seen. Shot beautifully and showing some stunning skills and balls of steel to match.

Hermes Brings High Fashion and Finger Boarding Together

High Fashion Label Hermes has put together something quite unexpected, a skate video. Well in truth it is not so much a skate video but a fingerboarding video of all things. This incredibly stylish video is brilliantly conceived and well executed and is now one of my favourite skate videos of the year. Who would have thought that one of the ultimate time wasting guy game would ever reach such lofty heights.

Watch: Danny and Annie, A Love Story

Grab a box of tissues before you start watching this. You’ll need them.

It’s incredible stories like this that make you realize what true love is. Using animation and the voiceovers of a real life, very sweet couple, StoryCorps takes us on an amazing journey through the couple’s twenty-seven-year romance. Danny Perasa and his wife, Annie remember their life together from their first date to Danny‚Äôs final days with terminal cancer.
