The Art of the Lego Brick

Remember how when you were young you used to play with LEGO, and then well, you got older and the lego got packed away, then given away, then…. that was it?

Well, Nathan Sawaya did the same thing, until he quit his job as a corporate lawyer in 2001 to become a LEGO artist. He has used LEGO’s shapes and bright colors to develop a range of sculptures including pop culture icons, the human form and planets. He’s even created a life-sized self-portrait, expressing the limitless possibilities of this medium.

For those of you in New York, Nathan has an exhibition of his work on show at the Agora Gallery until April 13th.

Check out more of Nathan’s work here.
