Block Party front man Kele steps out on his own with ‘The Boxer’

With Block Party on an apparent hiatus, front man Kele Okereke is stepping out on his own. Teaming up with Spank Rock producer XXXChange, Kele’s debut release titled ‘The Boxer’ is to be an electronic pop record that further explores his passion for electronic music. Kele speaks about this in an NME in an interview which will be released in full in tomorrows issue.

“I’ve been into clubbing for years,” he explained. “I’ve said from the beginning I’m into dance, it gets me excited and I think this record is going to go some way to prove that to people, hopefully.”

The LP is due for release on June 21st with the single ‘tenderoni’ out on the 14th. Kele will also be hitting the road in May with dates across Europe. Kele is out there on the social networks as well with a blog, Facebook, Myspace and Twitter pages running.
